If your heading out to the east side than visiting these two waterfalls is a must do on the list. With their easy access and dramatic views they make a great pull off destination for the avid photographer and sightseer alike.

Go ride a bike

Got a few bucks? Go rent a bike! Getting around is easy in Kapaa town thanks to its 9-mile costal bike path leading from south Kapaa to Kahihi point/Kealia Beach. The path itself holds a very mild grade from end to end and is perfect for families, elderly, or a romantic beach basket picnic.

Take the Kids to Lydgate Beach Park

Lydgate beach park offers two man-made saltwater swimming pools for kids to feel comfortable in the ocean without the worry of waves and deep water.  After a quick dip your kids will love the Kamalani playground. The playground offers a smaller section for Keki 3 and under and a larger more intricate structure for your older Keki.

Enjoy the Wailua River

The Wailua River is Kauai's largest navigable river and is the home to the famous Fern Grotto. Smith's Family offers a steam boat with complimentary hula lesson that is perfect for families and older couples. For the adventurer Kayak rentals are available with or without a guide.

Ride the Train

Go back in time at the Kilohana Plantation train station. These historic steam engines will take you through the grounds where you can enjoy a variety of scenic native Hawaiian fruits and aromatic plants. At the end of the tour you will even get a chance to hand feed goats and boars!
